Flintlock shotguns?

Flintlock shotguns?
Watched this guy on tv the other day loading one. Never had one, so hadn't thought much about it. Looked pretty simple. He loaded 60 grains of FF powder, then put in two disks as wadding and after pushing the disks down tight bounced his ramrod on the load to see if the rod would bounce as a test that it was packed tight enough. Then an equal measure of shot. [He said keep the grains of powder by volume and the shot by volume the same.] Then he put in a disk that was less thick than the double wad disks. This time he just pushed it down, no tap because he didn't want to compress it to any extent. Then he primed his pan with priming powder and he was ready to go. Seemed simple enough for me to do.....but don't have any shotguns of the BP sort.
Anybody shoot any BP shotguns?

I've had a go
with both percussion and flint lock. I preferred the percussion especially when shooting clays, I found it less of an issue when shooting pheasants!
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy!

I would start with percussion and work up to flinters, they really teach you follow through.
I shoot them at least once a month at the Grumpy Old Men's Muzzle Loaders Club, remember we took Patrick when he visited.

NO BUT..........................
............When I lived in Lichfield in the late 70's I used to go up to Yeaveley about once a month on a Sunday Morning for the sporting shoot. They used to have a BP competition which was well supported and looked like a lot of fun.Wouldn't mind having a go. The range I go to in Bordeaux has a BP clay setup so I might get to try it yet! All I need is a gun and there is a fair coming up next month so who knows!!!

Nope Vern, Firearm acquisitions are authorised through a firearms certificate which details the number and calibre of the firearms you can possess, acquisitions must be entered on the FAC and tally with the free slots at time of acquisition.
Shotgun acquisitions are authorised through a Shotgun Certificate which is an open ticket which allows you to acquire shotguns without limitation, in theory. Acquisitions still have to be entered of the certificate and plod informed so that at renewal time what you possess tallies with their list.
The caveat to it is your security and the risk to the public of your shotguns/firearms getting into the badguys hands, therefore you can have as many shotguns as you want, commensurate with your security, the Home Office detail three levels of security for firearms in their guidance and this is applicable to shotguns as well although I've never heard of it being invoked on a shotgunner.
I have around a dozen shotguns muzzle and breech loading and these haven't been counted in my security assessment by plod.

There is just no logic to UK Firearms Legislation that's for certain.
But then policy decided by politicians, drafted by civil servants and implemented by plod, all of which have a single figure collective IQ, is a recipe for insanity methinks.
Such is the beauty of democracy, you put shite in you get shite out and bastard blair was one of the biggest shites going in British politics and he was up against some stiff competition.
My lasting image of him was with that lunatic woman from the snowdrop campaign post Dunblane, a cheap political stunt at the expense of law abiding British citizens.
That man had any integrity genes removed at birth.
