Flying the B26

Post by Niner » Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:45 pm

Utube has several of these WWII instructional videos. Here is a long one on the B26. Really shows how complicated it all really was to fly....at least it seems that way to me. At one point after a long string of do this and do that the "instructor" asks the other guy.."Get that?" I was wanting the answer to be.... "No. Think you can say all of that one more time?"

I noticed that the "Captain" is Don Porter, who went on to a long acting career in tv and movies.

The Martin B-26 Marauder was a fairly difficult plane to fly, the high landing speed killed many
pilots, not a plane for a novice. But once learned to fly it, it was a very effective medium bomber.
It was used in the Pacific, Europe, and North Africa, and after the war was replaced by the A-26.

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.
