I now have a 3/47 Fazakerley to go with my BSA.
Just had time to give it a quick look.
Stock appears to be in fairly good shape, disk in butt stock. It has the metal cap on the fore stock.
Very little finish left on the metal but no obvious signs of corrosion. The trigger guard and butt pad frame have no corrosion on them, thats a good sign.
I'll tear it down this evening for a detailed inspection as there have been reports of serious pitting on some others from this batch.

Here are a few preliminary pics, the king screw would not come out so I couldn't get the fore stock off, I worked until 2130 so I didn't have much time to work on it. I will hit it with the impact driver this evening.

The bolt matches and has a #0 bolt head, the mag doesn't match but everything I have seen so far is Fazakerley marked and it has a "Z" prefix serial number.
The bore looks to be in exscellent shape also.

I got the king screw out last night with the impact driver. I found 3 small patches of pitting on the right receiver rail and another small spot under the safety.
I don't think any of them are a problem but I am a bit leary of any receiver rail issues on a rifle with rear locking lugs. I will get them cleaned out with a Dremel and wire brush and post some pics.

The reciever rail can take a bit of weakening, they chopped a lump out with the No4 MK1*, still I suppose that it depends on where it is and how deep.
From the sounds of it Curtis it shouldn't be a problem, When I think of the rusted scrap that I shot in my youth when I was at the beasts seriously that passed for No4s, using military ball with the tip nipped off, I get scared. I have nothing but respect now for the integrity of the design.
