I was looking at Glen Greenwald's nightly internet show. Last night he mentioned what should be an odd reaction in online social media to the murder of the CEO of United Healthcare, a medical insurance company. Seems any remark about the murder in a normal way received overwhelmingly large responses on social media that resembled more like cheers than horror or sympathy. The numbers weren't even close with thousands seeming to be cheering the death of someone they couldn't have known or had any direct contact with. However, the problem is that United Health has long been the most likely insurance company to deny claims over the rest by as much as twice as much and has caused a lot of upset among those who apparently had expected the company to pay up when needed and they balked.
In the UPI news today the police have recovered bullet cases with words on them. "The words "deny," "defend" and "depose" were found on the cases". The story goes on to say: The similar words " "delay, deny, defend" are commonly known as the three D's of the insurance industry.
Who would have thought there would be such a reaction? I saw such an example that bares this out on facebook a while ago.
