Ruger Vaquero Single action 45 oddity
Ruger Vaquero Single action 45 oddity
I'm in possession of a Ruger pistol, for safe keeping purposes at the moment, that a recently deceased close relative had owned. I was looking it over and discovered it didn't want to work. It's a pistol that looks like is today bringing in the $700 range in good condition and not a Saturday Night special at all. Then I went looking for the "instruction" manual. I didn't think single action revolvers needed an instruction manual. This one does. Turns out they put a safety inside of the pistol grip that is not only out of sight but you have to take the grips off with a screw driver to get to. And.... you use a key to lock and unlock it once you get to it. What a you got to be kidding me turn of events. Who would have thought some cover your ass company would think of such a bone headed thing? Needless to say, I have no idea where the key is. I ordered one off of ebay. Hope that's all that is wrong with it.

Nice looking pistol. Have never seen a locking setup like that before, seems having to remove the grip
is a little extreme. If it were my pistol and for some reason I wanted to use the lock, I would just drill a
small hole in the grip to put the key into the lock. Obviously meant for long term storage as it's a bad idea
for home defense. ..

Peace is that brief, quiet moment in history.......... when everybody stands around reloading.
