The EOS 600 series came out in the late 80's. 650 in 1987 followed quickly by the 620 and lastly by the 630. The 630 had the fastest auto focus of the three although slacking off a bit to a shutter speed of a still overkill 2000th of a second. They were at the beginning of cameras with intelligence of the early computer age built in. They were heavy metal frames with plastic coatings. The smart stuff, like auto focus, bracketing, multi shot bursts, smart stuff like leaving the leader in or out of the completed film rewind. Only... the ergonomic easy for a nimrod stuff was only fumbling it's way. Buttons on the back for programs after pushing the correct buttons and turning a wheel and knowing what each program was dedicated to. However, something about the 600 series is nostalgic ...like driving a full size car from the era.
Note the slant on the end of the camera base. Must have been as an added help for steadying with the palm of your off hand. However, when you set the camera down with a lens the camera, out of balance on it's base, tilts down to the lens lip.
