Pentax EXII

I started this forum for any collecting hobby and it turned into my camera collecting and using forum. I use it mostly to keep a record of my photo adventures. Nobody but me seems to have photo adventures that visit here....but however. I have so many cameras now that I forget which is which and which ones work and which ones don't. If you have cameras and adventures you would be welcome to post here.

Pentax EXII

Post by Niner » Sat Mar 14, 2026 6:09 pm

The EXII came out in 1973. It was really the tail end of the Spotmatic line and used, like the Spotmatic, the M42 screw mount lens. Some of those lenses were the best Pentax ever made. Today I used a 55mm F2 Super Takumar lens on this new to me camera.

This camera has an aperture priority mode powered by four LR44 batteries that load side by side in a door covered slot under the lens mount. It has a auto timer, which the previous ES didn't have. If you turn the knob to the orange 0 there is a curtain that closed out light to the view window for taking timed shots with the photographer not behind the camera. However the auto feature linked to the exposure meter wasn't really operating. No problem, the manual features worked just fine and I can guess aperture to speed combinations good enough for the photos I'm taking.
