VG Colt Systemas - $290

Post by Karl/Pa. » Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:23 am

Lipsey's in Baton Rouge has 3000 Systemas on the way in. These are graded as VG and are going (and I mean going)for the unheard of price of $290.

They are taking pre-orders and WILL accept a faxed C&R license.

Person to contact is Jennie Reine at 800-666-1333.

Ordered mine this morning.

Got my C&R back with an address change and got my name in the pot too. May see them sometime in June is the present ETA. They may have some special hand select at a slightly higher price.

Latest is that they should be ready for shipment in the next week to ten days.

I read on one of the boards that they only actually ended up with less than 2000 of them.

Well

Post by Niner » Thu Jul 13, 2006 11:50 am

Not exactly spectacular. Finish mostly gone. Hand grips well worn. Serial numbers match. One bore looks good, other will need cleaning to tell much about. One magazine sticks when you hit the release.. One grip safety seems to need excessive grip to allow the hammer to strike but could be my imagination. VG they are not. G would be kind.

But...they function and the serial numbers match other than the magazines. Got to get back to work. Will report further when I have a chance to take them apart and put them back together again.

Grip problem yet to be explored

Post by Niner » Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:57 pm

Worked late and had a chat at my other site. I discovered that the grip safety on one of them doesn't function as it should. You can fire the gun not touching it and again you can only get a half cock safety catch sometimes when you are grasping it firmly.

A screw in the top of the worn pistol grip grasps nothing. The string that held it is now no longer there.

These pistols are a complete waste of money. I'm sending them an email to see if they will take at least the worst one back.

Your assesment of them seems to be the consensus around the differant boards.

Ouch! $31.50 to send one pistol overnight from Alabama to Baton Rouge.

I decided to keep mine. It shows promise and parts are readily available if needed. Will have it refinished, tho.
