What do you remember of the old days internet Milsurp scene?

Post by Niner » Fri Nov 17, 2006 11:22 pm

Things change fast on the internet. New sites take the place of old ones. Many leading figures that had sites now are gone . Lots has changed in just a a few years. What do you remember?

The first major site I remember from only four or five years ago is Tuco's site. Lots of activity ...but all line to line. You had to click on every response to read what anybody said. It would take you all night to read the responses on only one forum! It was exciting enough at the time and very busy....but many wouldn't take the time to read such a forum now with the advances in the forum styles. This cyberstuff moves fast.

Tuco became Gunboards and followed advances in forum style.....but others still are stuck in what are less than fully up to possible features which may or may not play a part in predicting where things will be a few years in the future. .

What do you remember that has now left us?

Gun and Knife

Post by PeterN2 » Sat Nov 18, 2006 11:47 am

I started reading the old Gun and Knife forum in 2001, when I joined the internet, that evolved into British Guns. That all finished on the sad death of the founder, Mark Bitting. I also read Gunboards and Culvers forums regularly and a few others on an occasional basis, such as Parallax Bill and Curio and Relic.

Regards

Peter.
