Hey Everyone. We’re having a benefit raffle with 3 beautiful fire arms as prizes.... This is for Tim LaMar, a member of Scarborough Fish and Game (http://www.scarfg.org/), in southern Maine, who has been diagnosed with cancer. He's a great guy and given a lot to both his Country (Airborne, wounded badly in Vietnam) and to his community through the Scarborough range and other avenues. We're holding a benefit for him and the donated prizes are great. If you can buy a ticket, that great! If you can't, please pass the link along to someone who you think might. Tim's been a huge asset to the shooting community and is a wealth of happily dispersed in formation. He's the guy you call when you have no idea about something gun related. He's a good and giving man and now we're trying to give back as best we can. Here's the letter from our current President, Hank Wheat...
Dear Friends:
I don’t usually write these kinds of letters, but this is a truly extraordinary situation. As many of you now know, our long-time member and friend Tim LaMar was recently diagnosed with cancer. He has undergone surgery to remove the tumor, and is now involved in the arduous process of radiation and chemotherapy. Tim is self-employed, and because of the chemical and radiation therapies, has been too sick to work. As a result, he has no income, and is faced with some serious medical expenses, as well as day-to-day expenses for basic necessities such as food, rent, etc.
Tim has selflessly given of himself to the Club, serving diligently on almost every committee, working on the buildings and grounds, running matches, serving 2 terms as president, the list goes on. He has truly been an asset to our Club, and a much appreciated participant in almost every event we hold. He is now in need of our help.
To this end, Bushmaster has graciously donated a custom AR-15 20” rifle, laser-engraved with the Scarborough Fish & Game Association logo, to be raffled off with the funds going to help defray some of Tim’s expenses. The Club has stepped up to the plate, with Pistol donating a Benelli MP95E .22 caliber pistol, and Trap donating a high quality, Remington 870 shotgun. Later in the season, 5-Stand and Rifle will conduct benefit shoots with the proceeds going to benefit Tim.
The Board of Directors has authorized the printing of only 500 raffle tickets, priced at $50 apiece, for the raffle of the fine firearms listed above. You can help Tim by purchasing or selling a raffle ticket(s), by making a cash donation, or by donating some basic food items. Any and all donations are most sincerely appreciated, and I believe it would be a fitting “thank you” to someone who has done so much for our Club. If you are interested in obtaining tickets for the raffle, please contact either Ron Nelsen (730-4310 or RNelse@ci.scarborough.me.us ) or myself (602-2202 or hwheat@une.edu). We will send the tickets out via mail when we receive payment. Thank you in advance for your support of one of our own.
Sincerely,
Hank Wheat
President
