K98's With Winter Trigger Guard

Post by ian27 » Wed Feb 07, 2007 6:50 am

Just wondering if anyone had any idea how many K98's were made with the winter trigger guard, and what factories made them. A friend has an RC with the winter trigger guard, i dont recall but it had either the dou or dot code. I have not seen too many for sale.

The goofy loop triggerguard 98k's are ALL POSTWAR czech rebuilds....that is czech stamped triggerguards. The germans did not design nor produce these pregnant one peice triggerguards.

gew98, Thanks for the heads up, I didnt realise that. I must start to do a bit of reading up on them. The trigger guard does look a bit funny. That rules out buying one then. I must start to put more pressure on my mate to sell his S/42 bring back.

Regards

Ian ; The triggerguards are post war czech , some of the Dou marked rifles are postwar assembly and manufacture as well. The czechs refurbished alot of former german 98k's with these triggerguards so you may find a wartime rifle so equipped and simply ditch the goofy guard and replace it with a wartime german made guard.
