I gave my Tula to my son in Schenectady, as it fit in better with the bruatal cold that the balmy life in So. Ca. We brushed on the Zinzer (Amber) shellas, but it did not cover the missing finish!
It looked good, but the origional rearsenoled finish must be lacquor. Mikie liked it so the the truth, bahh! (Edith Anne)
I've got a MN M44 with a redish finish that I thought was shellac, but know I don't know what to do with the Mosin (my namesake!) I'll try spraying Zinzer and see what happend, as it's easy to apply.
Did the Romainians use anyother type of finnish?
Thanx Dante'

Re: Zinzer wasn't it!!!!
I bought a bunch of Albanian SKS's with that ugly-ass orange shellac. Bad thing is that most are chipped and look even worse.
Didn't those folks know about linseed?
