Yeah, well we're an opinionated lot Reg.

Couldn't agree more about the being flogged by the media and joe public over the actions of others. But it's the misinformation and pure B.S. that really gets up my nose  . Read an editorial by the pastor at Avondale College (SDA place) on the Virginia Tech shootings on the weekend - what a load of garbage including a quote by that reputable oragnisation Gun Control Australia to the effect that "three quarters of the massacres in Australia were committed by legal gun owners"

Ranting mode now off for two reasons. Firstly so I won't irritate people and secondly because the football is on. So I'm gonna grab a coldie (or three), some cheese and bikkies, and chill out.

Cheers

Graeme

Welcome ozireg!

I take it the references to 'Football' in this case is to the "Australian Rules" game.

Aussie Rules Football rules (an Outsider's view)

Rule 1. Teams should be approximately the same size

Rule 2. Edged weapons may only be used by complete agreement of both sides.

Rule 3. Killing an opponent may result in a free kick being awarded against the killer's team (at the referee's discretion).

Rule 4. All other rules are superfluous.

Okay, I may have exaggerated slightly  (but that's the way it looked the only time I saw a televised match)

Now to set the world straight :D

'Round 'ere we 'as

Football - otherwise known as Rugby League or the greatest game in the world. Poetry in motion. A peerless display of skill and athleticism.

Thugby- otherwise known as Rugby Union, a useful conversation starter if you're anywhere near a Kiwi but thats about it.

gAyFL- otherwise known as AFL/Aussie Rules . See Toms fairly accurate description above (you forgot the tight shorts and sleeveless T shirts Tom). It seems to keep the mexicans amused.

Soccer- otherwise known as soccer. Supposedly the world game. And for all the Brits just bursting to jump in and tell me "it's Football, we never call it Soccer" please explain why your major television show devoted to the game is called "Soccer Saturday" ?
