Duncan

There is a book called "Backbone of the Wehrmacht, The German K98K Rifle 1934-1935 by Richard D Law. I have heard conflicting reports on this book, some say that some of the information in the book is not totally accurate. Others say that it is as good as you will get on the K98. I am no expert and don't have the book, but I do intend to buy it. Richard D Law also did another book which concentrates on the sniper versions. No doubt there are other people on this board who will be able to give you better advice.

Regards

Ian

Mauser Military Rifles of the World by Robert Ball. Pictures and text, "the ultimate Mauser reference". Well, I don't know about "ultitmate", but at least it's possibly the best until he produces a third edition.

Good books on Mausers or any other mark tend to retail for good money.

Its the way of the world and the hobby we pursue I'm afraid. You could always give up drinking wine for a month that might cover it.

LOL Duncan, Dave is right, the best books on firearms always tend to be bloody expensive. I bid on a book called "The Webley Story" on ebay, it sold for £85. Keep checking ebay and you might find a second hand one going cheap.

Hi All,

Another is from Collector grade publications which is titled:-

Orignal Obendorf Sporting rifles

Which has quite a bit about the different Mauser military rifles and their development. Again not cheap but a good book with some wonderful factory information and photos.
