The top plane is a F-15E Strike Eagle.

And for you Duncan, the best seat in a B-17!
Is that the one that dangles underneath OS? Must try and find my pic of the Battle of Britain memorial Flight Lanc - it's a belter.

I was at the "Wings over Houston "show. The planes are from l/r F4 Phantom (proof that if you put in a big enough engine, and pump a LOT of JP5 out it's ass, anything can fly!), P-47 ( yes its Tarheel Hal), and a F-16 from the TANG group at Ellington Field. I didn't know that a P-47 could fly that fast, or the others that slow!

For you Brits, a recently completed Spit.

And Duncan, your place is in that glass ball under the B-17. A bit tight, but WHAT A VIEW!!!

"...And Duncan, your place is in that glass ball under the B-17. A bit tight, but WHAT A VIEW!!! ..."
As the old song has it:
"...The gunner in the bollock does not have very much room,
But the Doctor say that he has mere than he'll have in his tomb..."
"...For you Brits, a recently completed Spit..."
Personally, I prefer the Hurribird, but that's me (I always was a bit contrary).

A bit tight, but WHAT A VIEW!!!
I wouldn't mind a crack at it, take-offs and landings excepted

This is why I said it was an F-15 Strike Eagle, not a F-16 Falcon. They were both at the show.
(from the Wings Over Houston Air Show web site)
Air Force Heritage Flight
The USAF Heritage Flight, this year featuring the F-4 Phantom, P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, and F-15E Strike Eagle, will take to the skies and make formation passes along the flight-line allowing you to compare the jets and warbirds. The Air Force Heritage Flight is only flown by select civilian and military pilots who train together to learn the characteristics and differences between the modern jets and the prop-driven warbirds.

the gunner did not enter the ball untill after take off, and left the ball before landing
The gunner was a very sensible lad.
Forgive the parochialism but I would rather be in one of these -
