The Little Rascals were in spelling class. The teacher asked if anybody could spell the word “dictate”. Buckwheat sitting in the back of the class raised his hand high. The teacher thought and she did not want to embarrass Buckwheat because she knew he could not spell it. Little Darla raised her hand and the teacher called on her. Darla stood up and started spelling. D-I-C-T-A-I-T. Teacher replied sorry Darla that is wrong, anyone else know how to spell it. Little Buckwheat still has his hand held high. Alfalfa raised his hand. Teacher called on him and he stood up. D-I-K-T-A-T-E. Teacher replied sorry Alfalfa that is wrong. Anyone else know how to spell it. Buckwheat was the only one raising his hand so she had to call on him. Buckwheat stood up with a big smile on his face. D-I-C-T-A-T-E. The teacher replied in amazement that is great Buckwheat, you spelled it right. Now try to use it in a sentence. With an even bigger smile on his face he replied “Ask Darla how my dictate?!!!!
