DDR-egyptian M44 rangereport

Post by awo425 » Sun Dec 09, 2007 8:42 am

Hello,

Was on the range today testing ammo for my 1911A1 and th S&W Brazil and also got the M44 with me.

Adjusted the frontsight at home with a punch(gotta bulit a frontsightpusher for the M44 and M38).

With bayonnete extended it shoots real good, first shot low, because I forgot to adjust the rearsight(nneds to be set on 200m setting).

Did some 5 shots more with folded Bayo, goupt shifted 10" to the left and opened up quite a bit.(no pic of that).

Ammo was a handload using a 150g S&W spitzer bullet of .311" diameter and 48,5grn of N140 in a S&B case.

OAL 72,5mm.

Chronoed to 790m/s out of this M44.

That's some shooting. 200 meters with an M44 and that close a group....and center of the target, is outstanding.

Great shooting Chris.

Thanks for the data.

BTW, that 150 gn spitzer...is it the same one you use in the SVT???

About the range.

Were you shooting at 100 or 200 meters, or were you talking about the setting of the sights??

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

Looks like I missed the "visier" next to the 200m. He pretty much said the 100m sight wasn't working so.... used the 200. Guess I wasn't paying close attention. Just another sign it was a good thing I retired recently.

Yes, forgot to write, that the distnace was 100m, rearsight set to 200m.

Maybe I take it to the 300m range next time, this time my SA marked m96 was with me at 300m un Saturday.

The bullet is the same as I use for the SVT S&B 150grn SP .311".

Good shooting Chris, you certainly know how to get the best from your rifles.
