A couple of ammo pics

Post by PeterN2 » Fri May 20, 2005 6:00 pm

Here is a couple of pics of some original 6.5 Japanese military rounds.

The ammo in clips are three different varieties of ball ammo. The round nose stuff is the rounds introduced with the Type 30 rifle in 1897 and was produced until the early 1920s. It was produced in the UK during WW1 for the British issue Arisaka rifles though the rounds in the picture are Japanese production. The pointed bullet was introduced with the Type 38 rifle in 1905. Most of the rounds I have are the round nose bullet variety. I have shot a few rounds but it is subject to hang fires and split necks. One bullet went through the target sideways.

Original Japanese Ammo

Post by riceone » Sun Jul 29, 2007 2:37 pm

As plentiful as Japanese rifles are over here the same is not true for ammo. 6.5 Japanese ammo was packaged three clips to a cardboard box. I have just two of such boxes and both have the tops removed. Cartridges are of the later date pointed bullets. Also in the picture is a box of 8mm Nambu. Two of these boxes will fit in the compartment on the front of T14 holster. riceone.
