The Winter War by Robert Edwards

Post by Niner » Sun Jul 27, 2008 9:22 pm

This is new book and I thought I'd give it a read. The writer is a former Wall Street analyst and is known as a regular contributor to the Daily Telegraph in London....so the book jacket informs me.

I'm about half way through it and the guy does do a lot of exposition of the political machinations of all the parties..Finn, Russian, German, French, Swedes, French, British, Italian, American and assorted others including Hungarians. He throws in a bunch of quotes and abreviated anecdotes concerning people he often doesn't define as to who they are, where they come from or why anybody should care. But..all and all it holds your attention and seems to build an overall story.

However, when I came to this part....about the Russian 1902 single shot Mosin Nagant I had to read it twice and wonder if his other bits of information might be suspect. Or........ the 1902 single shot model will become the new latest word in rare and collectible firearms. So rare I don't think there is a photo of one anywhere, including this book.
