Dropped Ticket off at Police HQ today

Post by KevinP In UK » Tue Apr 27, 2004 3:01 pm

Hi All,

Well I stumped up the £26 in cash so no waiting for cheque to clear and personaly dropped off the ticket with it's covering letter and I also spoke to a chap form the licensing dept to make sure it was self explanitry enough so no confusion should arise:lol:; says he knowingly;

A one for one and a few more additions so now the wait begins, they said it should be about a week as they are not busy just now:lol:; so let's wait and see shall we, I hate it when I am without it though;

Best Regards. KP

Hi Adam,

The following:-

2x 303 Rifle

1x 303 Barrel

1x 6.5mm barrel

1x 270 Rifle

1x .30 cal Rifle

I shall be retaining the 3 vacant slots which are already on mt licence whihc are:-

1x .222" Rifle

1x .280 Rifle

1x .451" Rifle

The 303 barrel is to replace the rusred out one on a BSA sporting rifle I have, the 6.5mm barrel is the old one off the Schoenauer that has had a new one fitted, i want to keep the old one for it's markings. the 270 of course is for the Majestic and one of the 303's is for the 303 Bore Martini Muscat carbine now the other 303 is the quandry, i dearly want a Le Mk1 but cannot afford one just now but I saw a very nice No1 Mk111 still in the cosmoline after FTR in 1949 the other day and the price is very good; and I do love the No1's now he has a choice of several makes so the real question will probably be which one to go for, Enfield, LSA, BSA maybe even a SSA if there is one, how about looking for an NRF;) oh dear I do seem to have it bad:lol:; ;

Let's just wait and see how long it takes;) remember that i went through allthis on the phone with the licensing officer before submitting it and he couldnt' see a problem so it shouldn't take long. Oh darn it I forgot to increase my holding of 7 & 8mm ammo, oh Pooh I was going to orer some more 7 mm sp bullets but now I can't as I am about up to my limit. The ones I am using I can't always get locally so I have to order them and it means ordering 300-500 at a time, Oh Bother said Pooh!;

Best Regards. KP

Well I hope you have better luck than I did several weeks ago Adam agreed to sell me a Mauser I had been coveting for a while. I hand delivered my certificate and check.

Normally my licencing dept turns a variation around in about ten days so I wasnt worried. I Kept a eye on my bank account and yes they cashed my check great I thought no problems here. I was patient another week or so went by and then a brown envelope apeared on my doormat I just knew it was my certificate back. I was correct hurray there was also a covering letter telling me that because of staff shortages and the fact that in August there is going to be a new national data base of FAC holders in the UK that all police authorities will be able to access. MIDDLESBROUGH in CLEVELAND firearms licencing department will be closing down for eight weeks so they can input there data onto this system they have returned my certificate and asked me to resubmit my application after the 8th of july. IF Adam wasnt such a stout chap and agreed to hang on to the Mauser for me Id be out of the game for nearly thee months.Can they do this Im reluctant to kick up although I feel as if I should. It dosnt seem right.I was expecting to make another couple of purchases but they wont happen now it makes you look a prat when you have approached people to buy guns and then let them down beacause of Mr plods rule.How can it be that your licencing dept is quiet yet mine cant cope with the workload beacause of the change is my authority the only one buying into this new database.

Hi dhtaxi,

I can only tell you what the Licensing Officer ( the bos himself) told me one the phone, I asked how busy they were just now and he said it's quiet as it's between the renewal cycle so they could do a week turnaround;

This is also possible because as I went through it all over the phone with he who makes the decisions, it would not involve the wait whilst the FEO makes enquiries and visits etc. We will just have to wait and see how it actually takes, as I said I will keep you posted. Your force may just be telling fibs, however I have had trouble getting through on the phone yet the main switchboard can get through straight away; they have a answer service switched on if you phone them directly<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">;

Best Regards. KP

Kevin,

those slots shouldn't take long to fill and then you'll be back for more. I would go for a No1, I love mine they are real rifles not yet compromised for battle conditions. In fact I'm thing of getting another one if a good one turns up.

Dave there is something fishy here, I'm still looking into it as promised, don't know if i'll find out anything for certain but I know someone who might.

Hi All,

Hey adam, there is a whole bunch of No1 Mk111* rifles which were FTR'd in 1949 in Australia whihc have jsut hit the shores, I saw one which was still covered in the cosmoline, price looks like it will be good, am waiting to hear more;

Now to my mind they can't get much better than that factory fresh so to speak and that's what has sort of changed my mind about the Le Mk1. After all a no1 Mk111* with new barrel etc should be a very good shooter and would last me out certainly;
