What the **** happened

Post by rayinNZ » Sun Jun 26, 2005 3:13 pm

Are we allowed to ask what happened
Mark Bitting has died and I was worried about the British Guns sight which had developed out of the old "Guns and Knives" disappearing and then this happens
Is everbody against us!! (adjusts foil hat)
It is times like this that I realise I have become a conservative
hate the change, hate the colour, where is the old header pictures (not the Bisley ones) and where are the blue prints

Sorry about that, just had to get it out of my system

The good news Ray is that you found us!

It was sad to hear of Mark Bitting's death, I didn't know him personally but he gave like minded people somewhere to chat about guns.....................................bit like this place really.

I know what you mean about the colours, it does all feel a bit alien at the moment but I reckon in a week or two none of us will remember what the old place looked like.

The colors here will change in the next couple or three days. No trouble to make one header picture for all forums, but different ones for different forums may or may not be coming. The menu page will have a picture eventually.

Hi Ray,

gald you could make the move with us, I'm sorry you don't find the site as attractive as the Ez one.

However we had to make the move as Ez was totally untrustworthy and our straw poll of members at the time all supported the change over.

We lost over 90% of our posts even after their so called restoral process and that was with a promise to gold boards of a weekly back up.

Trust me the move wasn't done lightly but the long term viability of the board had to be taken into consideration.

Regardless of what Ez does to close the stabledoor it's future viability must be in question, as we are not the only board to have had its confidence severly shaken by their mess and inability to deal with it.

The colours, well they will settle down as we experiment.

Yes I dearly miss the blueprint back ground, it said it all for the Enfield board for me, but its swings and roundabouts really and over all I think this is a better place.

We have two options for uploading pictures, which are a definite feature of our site and most importantly the body of accumulated knowledge that is provided by people like yourself Ray will be able to be backed up for access in the future.

Basically the site diferences are cosmetic and as Mick says we will soon adjust, the essence and substance of the site are our contributors, people like you Ray, who give places like this a heart and a soul.

So long as we have meaningful and positive contributors, along with a healthy dose of irreverence, then the site will be a success, it will be what we make it.

One thing I'm sure of whatever happens it will never be a victim again our future is now squarley in our hands. :D
