This pistol was made in 1915 and is chambered in 9x23 Steyr.
The holster is a reproduction but is fairly faithful to the original. It has a pocket for a loaded 8-round magazine charger. I believe the original holsters held two in this pocket.
The front end of the slide and frame has always reminded me of the Colt 1900/1902 pistols.
The bulky but unusually small sights. It is a quite accurate pistol but the grip angle is a little awkward. I find a 'natural' hold puts my front sight a few inches low.
The pistols has two notches on the slide for the safety lever. The magazine follower holds the slide open when empty, the safety lever can be used as a slide lock in this position. This allows you to single load cartridges into the magazine if charger clips are not available. The button above the left grip panel is not a slide release, but a magazine release. It retracts the cartridge stop to expel cartridges loaded in the magazine.
When the slide is closed and the lever rotated upward it locks the slide and hammer.
If the hammer is thumbed back it will automatically disengage the safety and rotate the lever downward.
If the hammer is cocked the hammer must be pulled back slightly to engage the safety lever (just like a New Safety Mauser C.96) this lifts the hammer from the sear to completely disengage it from the trigger linkage.
