Mosin Nagant P-27

Post by Dutch Mosin » Fri Feb 24, 2012 9:50 am

Hello all,

A couple of weeks ago I attended a meeting of the Dutch Firearms Collectors Association.
One of the members told me he had to decrease the amount of rifles in his collection and he made me an offer.
He knew I collected Mosin Nagant rifles and he had a Mosin Nagant P-series for sale.

I hesitated for about 1 second  and then told him I'd buy it.
The price was right and the buy included an early type M91 bayonet in a German WW 1 scabbard.

I have to take care of the paperwork now and you know this can take a while over here.

I have no pictures except one foggy cellphonepicture.

More pictures when I have the rifle and bayonet in my collection.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin

You'd be the first to know Duncan.

Just been extremely busy and had to solve some family problems.
Sky is clear now.

It sure is Duncan, but I think that I got it now.
At least I got the camera working.

I think I stop for now and continue tomorrow.
I don't want to push my luck.

Neither had I Brass Rat, until this one came by.
I delivered the paperwork to our local police station yesterday.
All in all it should take no longer then a week or two.
I'll keep you all posted.

Had some time to take a couple of pictures of my Mosin Nagant P-27.
I cleaned the wood and most of the metal parts, but there's still some work to do.

This P-27 is built on a 1910 Izhevsk M91 receiver as you can see in this picture of the tang.

I have one question that needs to be answered.
Check out this picture of the barrel.

I know what the "D" and the "AV1" markings mean, but there is a small "B" under the AV1 marking.
I didn't do any research yet, but it might be a B-barrel.
I checked the color of the metal and it is a bit different from my other M91,s.
I'll try to take a picture of the color difference and post that ASAP.

The B could be a Bulgarian Proof. I got three M1891 rifles that came out of the Balkans a dozen years ago. I'll include one picture along side one from your photo. The Bulgarian mark on mine does have a circle around it as part of the mark though...so only offer this as a possibility.

Thanks for your reply Robert.
I'll note this as one of the possibilities.
Next to this the "B" could also mean this M91 has a 'B" barrel or ......it could mean the caliber of the rifle is .3091".

I'll keep you posted.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Martin
