WOW and I thought I was lucky last week when I found one ex-Dragoon.
These are some fine looking rifles as far as I can see in the pictures with a fantastic history attached to it.

Here are some pictures of one of my favorites in my collection.
It's a New England Westinghouse M91.
It has the "Deutsches Reich" stamp on the stock and the SA stamp on the barrel.
Imagine what this rifle could tell us if it could talk.

Produced in the USA, shipped to mother Russia, captured by the Germans in WW-I and captured or bought from the Germans by the Finns.

I never try to make them look like new after I bought one.
What I always do is take the rifle and bolt apart and clean everything.
Same goes for the stock.
I just clean it and leave the rest as it is.
Then I take pictures of the rifle and all the markings I can find.
I try to document everything as good as I can.

Thanks for posting the pictures Rick.
I appreciate it.

BTW:
In the picture of the barrelmarking I see a triangle with what looks to be the number 1 in it, but it could also be the post 1928 Izhevsk marking.
I'm not 100% sure.
Could you check what it is please?
Just curious.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Hello Martin. Your Westinghouse is what I call a "Home Run" as it touches all four bases. First, It's a Westinghouse. Second and third, I see two SA Finn marks. Home plate, the German army cartouche on the stock is sensational so when you add it all up, it's a home run......truly a sensational piece. :D My Westinghouse is a plain Jane with no appeal and like most of them not matching. That said, I consider a MN collection to be incomplete without a Westy. Regards, Rick.

Thanks Rick, a home run......I have to remember that expression. :D
I agree that a New England Westinghouse makes any Mosin Nagant collection more complete.
Now that I have one, I have to start searching for the second US Mosin Nagant, the Remington.
So many wishes and so little time.

Hello Martin. The triangle with the number 1 in it is a DDR property stamp. All three rifles have this mark and since I purchased all 3 at the same time, I suspect they all came from the same lot of East German rifles.

Thanks for the quick reply Rick.
I'm familiar with the DDR marking, just couldn't see it clearly enough in the picture.
I'd love to add a DDR marked M44 or M91/30 to my collection.
A DDR marked ex-Dragoon would be a fantastic find.

I'm driving over to Germany next month.
Maybe I can find one or two Mosin Nagants over there.
I'll keep you posted.

BTW:
If you have more Mosin Nagants in your collection don't hesitate to post pictures of them in here.

OK, Martin. Here is my M39 collection. I think I have every variant. Of note is the short lived PUOLUSTUSLAITOS marking on my Sako. Puolustuslaitos translates to "Government Property" and was only used for a few months when the boxed SA replaced the long hard to apply word. Many consider the M39 as the cream of the entire Mosin Nagant line. Some of the Arctic Birch on these is sensational. Regards, Rick.

You have a really fine collection, Rick. Your M39 set is way ahead of mine. Thanks for showing us. I only have two and both of them are VKT. And the way things are going now days, hitting a "home run" like yours is more and more difficult and ......expensive.

Fantastic collection M39 rifles Rick.
I like them all, but the SAKO with Puolustuslaitos marking must be a pearl in your collection.
I have to add that the wood on your M39's looks fantastic.

Personally I don't think the the M39 is the cream of the entire Mosin Nagant line.
I will not argue with the fact that the Finns combined the best of the best in the M39.
IMHO however there are a few Mosin Nagant models that beat the M39 from a historical point of view or models that are more rare then the M39.
Take for example the 1907 carbine, the St. Petersburg cavalry school carbine or the 1st model M91 with the finger rest and without the hand-guard.

I own one VKT M39 and a good friend of mine offered me to buy his SAKO M39.
I told him I'd buy it.
Makes my collection even more complete.

I checked the link you posted.
I said it before and I will say it again: Sometimes I wish I were a US citizen. :(
Then again.......I love this great little country I live in. :NET:

Thanks again for sharing the pictures Rick.
