My Grandfather was one of the founders of the Australian Labor Party and was eventually expelled from it, so at a later date was his son, my father.
I was a member for a brief time but when the then leader of the parliamentary party, Paul Keating admitted to receiving (and intending to keep) $10,000 in living away from home expenses even though he was living with his wife in a flat that he owned in the National Capital, I got a bit PO.
When within a few days of this I received a book of raffle tickets from the Party as part of a fund raiser, I wrote across the tickets that I resigned and that I had 10,000 good reasons.
Made my day
