I am ANTI-BUBBA - rescued finn m/24 "christmas tree&quo

Found a christmas tree stamped m/24 at my way down to Stuttgart some weeks back, but Bubba was faster. He decided to do way with that stupid handguard and polished the stock(WW2 birch) including buttplate and nosecap to high gloss, got rid of the wire sling hangers and cleaning rod.

Interesting enough, he did not use corrosive ammo, the barrel is in very good shape, some remains of green primer sealer on the bolt face show, he used PPU ammo of modern manufacturing.

I had a spare M91 handguard and an old NEW M91 stock, on which I practised Stock cleaning some years back.

Reoiled it, fit the finn sling slot plates to it, and opened up the barrel channel in the front part.

Some shims under the action and some filing on the fingers of teh handguard.

Traded an nice M91/30 cleaning rod for the correct M91 rod and installed some old wire sling hangers.

Ah, yes, found a nice =S= stamped muzzle protector at the Stuttgart gunshow, seems like the m/24 deservs it:

I know, the rifle will never be in original configuration again, but this is as close, as I can get with the parts from my "armory".

It almost looks as if the guy was trying to make it look like one of the first 91's built. I believe that the first few did not have a handguard.

I see that the serial numbers (?) 21233 and S97305 on the LHS of the chamber have been stamped through. Why is that?

The rifle is a so called "Lotta Kivääri", used by the Civil Guard.

The Barrels for those rifles were ordered from Swizerland(SIG Neuhausen) and Germany(Venus Waffenwerke, stamped BÖHLER STAHL).

Some of them got their barrel rechambered, it is somwhat shorter than a standard M24 or M91 barel.

Most of those rechambered barrels have the christmas tree stamp, but some don not and on some the stamp is theren, but no barel work was done(at least not visible).

The S-Number the rifle got in the Civil Guard district, in which it served.

When the rifles were transfered to the finnish army, most had the CG number lined out and some also the serial(left side of Barrel) and the serial stamped on top of the barrel, like on all arms rifles.

I found the muzzle protector on a booth, were all kind of german parts and holsters were for sale.

There were 4 such protectors, two made of aluminuim and two made of zinc.

The zinc ones wer in bad shape, showed lots of small cracks, because cast zinc gets real britle over time, wehn the alloy was not right.

So I got me the nice ones made of aluminium, one for the m/24 and one for my CG stamped M91 PTG

I found an M24 at a local gunshop and should be picking it up soon.

The hanguard is broken at the rear band and the wirehangers are missing.

I'm am considering making the hangers myself and will try to repair the handguard .

Does anybody know where I can find these parts ?
