Hi drhiller,
Well I paid £375 for mine, which as I say is possibly a little high. I just looked through Gunmart and a normal No4 can be had for about £165 upwards, but I cannot of course see condition in an advert! However I was pleased with the bore condition and it doesn't shoot too badly at all, trouble was as it got hot the group walked up the target which is why I looked at the fore end and the way it was fitted. It doesn't have the cheeck piece on it at present as I replaced the Savage Birch butt with a new Walnut one, it was when I took it in for the bedding to be looked at that the man suggested that it should be fitted with walnut wood up front as well to help with the restoration.
It had been re-parked/blacked when I got it as apparently it was in real poor shape from storage in some sub/tropical place which is why it was fitted with new wood the original stuff was rotten<!--EZCODE EMOTICON START :o --><img src=

One day when I am rich I may try to get a scope and mount, however for now I will shoot it as is. Yes the battle sight ring was ground off to clear the scope. Acording to an armourers information sheet I have here the Wooden cheek piece was fitted to suit the individual user so there is no correct position for this and it's possible to have more than one set of holes in the top of the butt, if done by an armourer properly the surplus holes are filled with a dowl.
Here is the first group I shot with it, it's made up of several types of different surplus ammo, the foresight was way too low so I had to get a higher one. Which is why the group is up of the target:_

That's 30 rounds there!

Another try after changing the foresight blade to a higher one. Again another 30 shot group of normal milsurp MkV11 for comparision. I believe that the black is about 9" in diameter to give you an idea of scale the Bull is 2" as it's a 200 Yd NRA Std target.
Now with the bedding sorted (hopefully get it back soon) I can sort out some decent ammo for it and see how it really shoots;)
<p>Best Regards. KP
