Jungle Carbines
I had posted a bunch of these pictures before. It was more to show the slight differences between them.... the nose cap and no nose cap difference being primary. These pictures are a combination of linking as per ezboard and the one in the bottom is loaded from my desktop showing with the arrow the lightening cuts these rifles had.

There is , or was a nose cap mystery
It was a curiosity to me why some had them and some not.
Some knowledgeable people thought the early ones went without caps and the later had them. But mine are both late production. The one without the cap is BSA 1946 and the other is BSA 1946 also, but in different production lots as serial prefixes are different.
Adam had an opinion on this question in another string that reads rather authorative... but confuses me a bit.

Niner, There is a second variation of nosecap that didn't seem to make production which may be partially responsible for the confusion. It is rounded with a profile similar to a capless fore-end.
Both of my No.5s are '45 Fazs. It seems, at that point in time anyways that it just depended on what the subcontractor provided. It does seem that in '47 most No.5s (reported) had nosecaps.

RE: Jungle Carbines
I have a Jungle Carbine that has been reworked by RFI. It definately started out as a true Jungle Carbine since it has all the proper lightening cuts on the receiver and barrel and the bolt knob is hollow. The s/n numbers match on the bolt, receiver stock socket, stock and magazine but it the British manufacturing marks have been completely removed and polished out. There is a RFI mark stamped on the wrist of the stock behind the trigger guard.

Is there anyway to tell which British manufacturer may have made the carbine based on its present configuration?
