Thanks Guys!

You've twisted my arm enough! I'm going to buy both one of these days, but I think I'll begin with the K31 after the holidays.

I have both and the K31 is a superb rifle, outstanding as an accurate military rifle and will give many top grade target rifles a run for their money, I like it for its engineering and workmanship qualities etc., but I rarely use it on the other hand I have ten SMLEs, both military and sporting, and I use them in preference to most of the other firearms that I own.

Probably because they are MAGIC! I have a Mauser K98k and a No:4 MkI..............I appreciate the engineering in the Mauser BUT the Enfield is much the better rifle. Also, the K31 is not a 'Battle' rifle I think, it was never proved under battle conditions as far as I know but I am sure someone will put me straight on that one.

One interesting thing about the K31 is that many of them have a tag under the butt plate giving the name address age and unit of the soldier it was issued to. Mine belonged to a cook in a bicycle regiment who was born in 1929.

Good point Peter. And all the numbers are usually matching on the K31's and they are usually in pretty good shape as well. No FTR several times and time spent in some third world country with black paint all over the metal parts either.

The bad guys were so awed by the display that they stayed away.
