problem solved

Post by dhtaxi » Sat Jul 30, 2005 7:00 pm

Just thought I let you know the outcome.

It was indeed the magazine I took the oportunity to talk to some people in the know. Chris,Stuart,Charles,Adam I was able to fit mags that they owned and compare. It was the fitting of the magazine that was wrong. Iv adjusted the mag and now all is well. I would still like to improve the trigger so if anybody can advise as to how this is best achieved I would be gratefull.

Trigger-pull adjustment

Post by krinko » Sat Jul 30, 2005 9:52 pm

OK, here you go.

This is the cocking-piece from my BSA Long Lee target rifle. I would have shot the one off my '55 Fazakerley, but it doesn't have the "cachet" of an official item.

Anyway, you can see how the angle of the contact surface has been changed to lighten the second stage trigger pull. That's all there is to it.

I have a tool for sharpening engraving tools that I use to hold the cocking piece at a fixed angle while I run it over the whetstone----I wouldn't try doing it without a jig of some sort, the angled face MUST remain flat.

I did this to all my Enfields and some for friends by hand stoning and polishing. It takes some practice, but it can be done!!!

Must dif in my notes, but ther was drawing, that shows how to do it in a vice
