Well it could have been called the Pain In The Groin after one ruptured oneself trying to cock the bloody thing.
Enfield, anything else is just a rifle.

Now I'd forgotten about the cocking. It payed to be of average height as that seemed to help. I can remember tall blokes and short ones reaching the point of trembling then folding up as the spring beat them.

Must have been the Infantry's most unloved weapon.

That's a nice web-site. I just put it my favorites. There are a few AT cannon owners around here. They show up at the few MG shoots we have in the state. Very interested in this hobby. But I could never support it... It's hard enough to support my rifle calibers.

I used to have a bit to do with Anti-tank guns and the biggest that I was qualified to work on was the QF 17 pdr.

Which was a beautiful piece. I once had the satisfaction of hitting a 4ft X 4ft target at2000 yards, which was well within the capability of the gun.

Would have been surprising if I'd missed, given the optical sights and the rock steady platform...bit like bench rest

Only anti-tank weapon i used was the 84mm Carl Gustav, loved firing it, hated getting lumbered with it on exercise
